Three years ago to the day, I had started to draft this book, not knowing where it was going to lead me. All I knew was that I really liked Brienna, and I wanted to know what ended up happening to her. Little did I realize that Brienna was going to take me on an grand adventure, perhaps the greatest adventure of my life, a path that wound beyond words on the page.
Today, my author copies of The Queen’s Rising arrived. I honestly can’t even describe how it feels, to hold the hardback copy of your book for the first time. I feel immense gratitude for the people–my family and friends, my incredible agent and editor, my entire publishing team–who got me here. I am humbled, excited, struck equally with disbelief and wonder. It is like catching my breath only to lose it again, in the best of ways.
And I cannot believe this is mine, that I have finally reached such a moment. I liken it to seeing a little piece of your heart out in the open, bound by paper and ink. It is terrifying as it is glorious, to know that while my name is on the cover, this book is no longer wholly mine. It also belongs to you, dear reader. It belongs to the amazing people who have come behind me, supported me, and invested in this story.
And the book…well, it is absolutely gorgeous. (Disclaimer: I might be biased, but still…everything about it is lovely).
Here’s a little preview. And you can pick up your own copy Tuesday February 6!
Oh! And one of the best things about the finished copy? The pages smell absolutely divine.
xx
